HCFC Phaseout (R-22 refrigerant)
HCFC, the refrigerant that is use in older Home central A/C units is being phased out,
beginning in 2010. There will be no production or importing of equipment that uses HCFC refrigerant. The cost of replacing your A/C unit will now cost more.
If your existing unit has a leak, the HVAC technician is required by law to find and repair the
leak - no more giving your A/C a shot of gas for the season. Large fines are being imposed for technicians that do not follow the law. See HCFC and ozone depletion.

EPA: New Lead-Based Paint Hazard
The new rule requires contractors and construction professionals that work in pre-1978 built
housing or child-occupied facilities to follow lead-safe work practice standards.
